• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

I was at one of the many area wide parades on the 4th. In anticipation of the A-10's flying over I was trying to tune my scanner in to the proper frequency. Problem was I didnt know what freq to tune to. I was trying to find when exactly they would fly over..... Anyone wanna help me with some information on this one...

The local A-10s from Martin State Airport have several choices for their chat plus all the ATC freqs they'd be on in this area. The past few days, they've been using their almost forgotten FM low band freqs for chat. I've heard them on both 34.4 and 41.95. Keep in mind these are the only FM mode freqs they would use. Everything else would be AM mode. The complete list of callsigns and unit freqs can be found in the Wiki here:

The ATC freqs they would use locally would be those of the Potomac TRACON which also can be found in the Wiki. Just type "Potomac TRACON" in the search box.
