Wie geht's?

I sumbitted a basic list of Rockaway Mall Buisness freqs to the Morris County Moderator, but there are numerous licensed and unlicensed users for many of the frequencies being used there. So naturally, I did not submitt PL's or DPL's that I was unsure off. Having the PL and DPL for the frequency in question is the ONLY way to know whos talking in this multi-layerd (or uncoordinated?) piece of radio real estate.

I wanted to put my "Unverified" list up here in case anyone scans the Rockaway Mall and wants to fill in any of the blanks, in the interest of having a accurate buisness frequency list for this orchestra of electromagnetic confustion! After a short time listening and alot of writing, I am going to intentionally sit alone in a queit room for a very, very, long time......

Rockaway Mall FCC ID KNAN406
451.5000 - 432 DPL - Confirmed Security + Engineering
456.5000 - Input to Above
464.9750 - 97.4 PL - Confirmed (All Spanish)
469.9750 - Input to Above

JC Penny FCC ID WQFC812
461.5875 - CW ID every 15 min
461.7125 - CW ID every 15 min
461.8375 - CW ID every 15 min
466.9625 - CW ID every 15 min
467.2250 - 365 DPL - "Call this extension" ect CW ID every 15 min

Macys FCC ID WNVY454
464.1000 -
469.1000 - Input to Above
464.1750 -
469.1750 - Input to Above
464.2750 -
469.2750 - Input to above

Home Depot - Dover FCC ID WQHE526
467.7625 - 065 DPL - Confirmed (PreRecordings are a scream!)
467.8375 -
467.8500 -
467.8750 -
467.9000 -

Toys R Us FCC ID WQHM323
467.8500 - 251 DCS - "Channel 1" Confirmed
467.8750 - "Channel 2" Confirmed
467.9000 - 205 DCS - "Channel 4" Confirmed
467.9250 - "Channel 3" Confirmed

Brand Tecnologies Services FCC ID WQHN619 (Possibly Wallmart?) 204 Enterprise Drive?
467.8500 -
467.8750 -
467.9000 -
467.9250 -

Target FCC ID WQCD911
462.1875 -
462.4625 -
467.1875 -
467.4625 -
467.4875 -
467.5125 -

Now! Here is where it gets confusing. You have probably noticed that certain frequencies keep repeating, and these are just the licensed ones! I guess the FCC is reading to much of Motorola's advertising when it comes to the miracle of DPL and how it cuts down interference, or uh, covers it up! Here are the frequencies that repeat, and their respective DPL tones that I havent been able to seperate to any specific store.

Please note: I have tried parking as close as possible to a suspected store location to try and tell them apart, but I still have two different users booming in, sometimes three, on different DPL tones. So far the subject matter hasnt been indicative of which store im hearing. I have DPL's but no idea as to what store they belong. I wont submit shaky material so Im putting it here for public review. I dont have any handheld DF gear or the desire to explain what it is to local law enforcement while being reclined over the sun baked hood of a ford crown victoria.

467.925 - The MOST active frequency at the Mall:

1. DPL 206 - Most likely Toys R Us, but talk of furniture?
2. DPL 506 - Definitely Best Buy (No FCC License)- Loss Prevention, Inventory, and others
3. DPL 743 - Talk of the "Shift CSL" is that a Wallmart Term?
4. DPL 155 - Furniture Talk, alarms, sporting goods, fitting rooms this is "Channel 3" refered to as so by a user who switched there from "Channel 4" which was 467.750

DPL 115 and then returned.

467.750 - DPL 115 No FCC Licenses found for this freq

467.900 - Only Toys R Us was heard, out of 3 licensed users

467.5875 - 67.0 PL "Channel 4" is probably dicks sporting goods

467.7625 - "Guard House" very weak signal switched to below
469.4875 - Same user as above, still weak

467.850 - 67.0 PL Something clothing related... Cant be sure if its "Brand Technologies Services" which shares the same adress as the Wallmart and has a mast with multiple folded dipole antennas sprouting from its roof.

Some help...

467.925 743 DPL is a common Victoria's Secret freq/tone combo
467.925 155 DPL is a common Target UHF freq/tone combos
467.750 115 DPL is a common Target ch1 frequency

I've attached a list of common store freq/tone combos that I've accumulated by looking at Radioreference and other sites/forums. I scan the freqs in the attached Excel file, scan the itinerant freqs, as well as search and use CloseCall to identify store freqs.

Note that the A, B, C after the store names are just unique names I gave the frequencies to differentiate them when they display on my scanner. If there are numbers in the description, those numbers relate to the channel numbers in the store's radios.

PS - I just made a Wiki page with the same info in the Excel file: http://wiki.radioreference.com/index.php/Stores

Wow, thanks for the clarification! I actually heard lots of "bra talk" on the one you listed as a victorias secret freq, that makes sense now. Thats amazing how the frequency and DPL combinations are so smiliar nation wide.

One more tip that might be good to add to the wiki, If you can park within sight of the front enterance/exit you will verify your frequencies faster. First an armored car pulled up, which had the loss prevention freq jumping and then an old lady needed help loading a 1/4 mile wide flatscreen in her car. Instant confirmations.

Good work. It's nice to see some one during first hand research and confirming frequencies instead of going with the regular commercial chain radio plans. It is interesting to see specifically what each frequency or pair are being used for.

Retail Frequencies

I have a bunch of retail frequencies on my web apge if ya'll want to check it out. I have noticed that a lot of them are the same and used elsewhere in the US and I also post some retail frequency info on my update page blog from time to time as well.
