1. Is it possible to set a specific NAC code for P25 like you can with a scanner?
2. Is there any talk or a possibility of a future firmware upgrade to support DMR reception? The lack of DMR reception is almost a deal breaker for me. This is one of the reasons I am on the fence about buying the R30.

I'm not sure about your NAC question.

As far as DMR goes, some users claim Icom has responded to their comments that they are very much aware or users desire to add DMR but Icom has not said if it can technically be done nor if they are looking into adding that mode. All we can do is hope they can add DMR and will do it.
I own an R30 and two costlier R8600's. I knew none of them supported DMR when purchased so I sure can't complain they don't but I do agree that DMR would be very nice if they could add it to both models via firmware. I'd guess this is Icom's number one comment or question about these models.
Can either model demodulate a Phase II P25 signal? I don't think they can so that question will probably become more common as P25 systems migrate over to Phase II operation.
I use external decoders with my R8600 for DMR currently but it sure would be nice to just tune that mode on the VFO and be able to hear it without needing to be tied to a computer. I guess you can't have everything though but I'll still keep my fingers crossed that a DMR firmware upgrade is in the works for both models!
Many would also like to see Yaesu's Fusion mode added. It would be nice if Icom offered some of these more exotic modes as paid upgrades assuming the hardware can support them correctly and they sound proper. Fusion is more of a direct competition over DMR to Icom though so we may never see that offered by Icom. DMR probably has a much better chance with it being used so widely in many areas.

I think I've found the answer for one of my questions. Apparently you can specify a particular NAC code for a P25 channel, as well as a CTCSS or DCS code for an analog channel, and a specific RAN number for NXDN.

But a follow up question: If you receive a transmission on a frequency, will it display the CTCSS/DCS/NAC/Ran code if you don't know it?

Digital modes are logged on the SD card with all of the details (turn on logging).

I just programmed a CTCSS and DCS on simplex 147.57 Mhz - no display.

Here is the RX log with a p25 entry 852.3875 P25 300208 13983GRP 791 12/31/2018 09:23 (freq, mode, RID, TGID, NAC, DATE TIME

Here are all of the column headers:

Thanks for the information. Seems like a pretty detailed logging.
Will it log the same information for a NXDN transmission?
