Hi. I have recently started monitoring the IMPD and have a few questions.
1. Anyone know what set cars are. E.g they come over downtown primary freque as things like set 23 or set 14.
2: In terms of units, is it circle 7 or cycle 7. I can never quite tell what they're saying. It almost sounds like something like cicle.
3: There is some kind of law enforcememt or security that operates on the system 1 tac 9 tg on MESA. They work the LOS and Indiana cunvention centre. Are they IMPD, or something else?
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Well you would because the WNBA all star game among other things have been going on downtown for a while now. I'm telling you that S1 tactical channels are only assigned as needed ahead of time, and are not for permanent assignment.

Thanks. S1T9 seems to be dedicated. I've heard the same units for about a week now.

There are some Tacs that are always used for the main downtown events:

S1-T5 Gainbridge Fieldhouse
S1-T9 Lucas Oil Stadium Police
S1-T10 Lucas Oil Stadium Medical

When I drive by Lucas Oil Stadium during Colts games I see police cars from other area agencies so I think it's not just IMPD or local sheriff's Department that cover these events.

Do you know what channel speedway pd uses for events at the IMS?

10602 Speedway PD Dispatch Calls around the speedway
10652 Speedway Fire

During Carb Day 2025
SPD car 2 (downtown Speedway)

For escorts to the track I have in my notes seeing them use SPD Car-Car 1 & 2 and their PD Tac channel (which is now encrypted) so it's varied by event and year. I just put them all in.

I would check all the S1 T tac channels, like this weekend during the Brickyard 400.

During the Indy 500 S1-T3 is the main medical channel. S1-T6 for the Snake Pit.

I haven't found activity on SAFE-T. The most I heard in 2025 during the 500 was INDOT.doing some lane restrictions on the interstate exits.

Thanks so much for this.
Yes, regarding the s1 tacs, I have heard medical for the brickyard 400 on them but nothing for swpd which was why I was asking. I think ims has there own security who do a lot of the internal stuff if I'm correct, but that system isn't streamed on openmhz unfortunately so.
I will continue monitoring and let you know if I hear anything.

Interesting you mentioned the lack of security chatter during races. I have noticed that too. So much more medical calls.

During the Indy 500 this year I did hear ISP responding to calls inside the track grounds on S1-T7.

On the IMS DMR system I just search for new TGs so not sure how much security activity is on there.

In my day running the track's system the yellow shirts did not have much activity other than calling for medics on hot days. Fans who like to consume alcohol seem to prefer sitting higher in the stands so they can fall further when they try to walk down the steps to use the restroom.

I remember Hanna (as the medical center was called back then after Dr Hanna) putting out a heart attack call at the media center about 6pm, about 3 hours after the race ended. The dispatcher said 'Hanna is going 10-42' after he put out the run.

Dr Hanna's daughter was in my class at Speedway high, along with Ronny Duman's daughter and starter Pat Vidan's daughter.
