Here is a good invention me and my grandpa made today that we mounted in my car we use a peice of wood about the size of a pro-93 and a little peice on the bottom of it to hold the scanner on and a bag strap to hold the scanner on and it is adjusted able and we screwed the wood to my dash and now i have a mount to put my scanner on. this a good way to save money all you need to do is.

1. start out by cutting a peice of thin wood the size of your scanner.
2. Drill holes in the wood and find a bag strap or any kind of strap will do and drill holes in the dash and also find a little peice of wood to put on the bottom of the wood that will hold the scanner so that it wont slip off and use 3 screws to screw the little peice of wood on the bottom of the mount and then just drill any amount of holes in your dash and get a bag strap or velcro strap and just strap it onto the wood and put it on the scanner and adjust how tight you want it to be.

Good invention and it will save you money and from have to hunt everywhere for a regular mount. all you need is a peice of thin wood and a little peice of wood and a bag strap or velcro strap and your off. Good luck to anyone who wants yo use this idea it worked for me. :!: :)

I also made a little setup for my car. It was really cheap about $5. I bought a police radio leather belt case that fits my pro-95 perfectly. I have an 01' Grand Prix if you know anything about the interior of it, there's a lil computer screen in the top middle of the dash. I found this cord bundle holder thing from walmart that i put 3m doublesided tape on and taped it to the dash. I wouldn't want to drill a hole! I also had a triangular caribeaner (spelling?) that i hooked around the belt loop and then strap it to the cord bundle thing and it hangs perfectly straight in the center of my dash easily accessible by hand and very visible. It works just fine for me. I needed something and i thought it was a nice ingenious little setup.

you can't really go wrong with $5. I kept seeing these guys talk about the vent holders and other things and i didn't want to get discourage trying to find one that would work for me so i went out looking for anything that would suffice. I found something and it works for me. it doesn't have to be the best or look outstanding as long as it does what i want it to do then great.

Hey cobra,

What kind of car did you mount this in, I wouldnt want to drill into the dash of my truck, but would like a good mount for my hand held 96.

My 1991 chevorlet lumina i already have a cb speaker mounted and holes drilled for that. and my cb mic holder. i recommed if you dont want to drill holes just find a peice of velcro and velcro it on the back of the wood and attach it to the dash that will save you from drilling holes.

Don't underestimate the value of cheap wire coathangers. I've used them to make scanner mounts for different situations. You can hang them from air vents, attach them to dashboard mounting screws, or hang them on your doors.

All you need is some cutting pliers and some imagination.

A good freind of mine that passed away had the same feeling about bed rails. LOL he had a ton of them in the top of his shed.

It looks like his scanner is in the electric chair!!!

I think I'll look for other ways to mount my pro-96, but thanks for the tips.

Apparently the depth of field adjustment is a little off on his camera as well. :) Those are some nasty looking cracks too, and right in his line of vision. A fix-it ticket waiting to happen.

What might be better is is you use a rubber strap that has holes in it. It looks like this:

____________________________________
O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O
___________________________________

Then all you have to is have a nail or something to hook the strap to on both sides. The rubber would grip the scanner much better than velcro or anything else. My dell laptop has the same strap for you to strap the power cables around the power adapter.
