I just hope the robot isn't trying to defuse a bomb when someone nearby cranks up their 200 watt 70cm amplifier. Even if the signal is very narrowband digital and non-NTSC video, the de-sens and receive error rate is going to skyrocket (not to mention whatever building the bomb happens to be in!).... I have to agree with the ARRL that this co-allocation of the spectrum is a serious mistake....

If you read the story you'll see that the signal is NOT narrowband digital; it's 100 kHz wide, whatever the actual mode is.

Along with all the other extraneous crap we have on 440 mHz, including the DOD spread spectrum crap in the DC area, this is just another added annoyance, although amateur radio operators are secondary users of the band.
