the airwaves are alive in our neck of the woods, UHF band is hot right now (never seen so much activity in this area of Canada) due to the 2010 Winter Olympics we have a huge presence Air & ground assets, unfortunately thorough sweep of ususal suspetcs 30 mhz-72 mhz is yielding previously clear 41.6, 32.1 & 38.6 all digial (unknown format)
lots of neet milair going on all morning thus far has been SIDECAR air to air refueling with OILER 21 possibly USAF KC-135R (don't think CAF has one of these) refueling with DAGGER 71 & 72 (CF18's)
269.900 Boom Freq (OILER)
226.500 Primary w/SIDECAR (unkown aircraft)
378.500 Primary comms w CAF @YVR
344.600 SENTRY 21 just checked in with unkown airfield requesting weather report
243.000 Also overheard very officious voice saying you are in restricted air space etc (switch & answer 121.5) possibly just testing I am sure closer to Olympics we will hear more from this one !

SIDECAR is the Canadian NORAD operations center. Heard it and BANDSAW and DARKSTAR (AWACS birds) in 2002 here during the G8.

OILER is indeed a tanker.

This website might help. ;)

Just talked with a guy on one of the RadarBox/SBS-1 services who is able to see the AWACS bird on his setup on the island. :)

My RadarBox picked up EXPO82, a KC-135R tanker, earlier today. Maybe providing some juice to SIDECAR?

Further, SNTRY21 is the callsign showing up on RadarBox data for your E-6 AWACS bird.

344.6 isn't showing up on TAFL nor the Canada Flight Supplement.

Just over the border is Olympic Coordination Center in Bellingham. "This Security Coordination Center will coordinate the security efforts for over 40 federal, state and local agencies on the U.S. side of the U.S. – Canadian border. This facility will provide a strategic response platform to facilitate critical response efforts during the Olympic Games and beyond”.

I think the 2010 Olympic security is over the top. Last I heard nearly a billion dollars Canadian. Why are F18's, possble Drones doing patroling the Whistler highway ~ NO FLY ZONE

From a source in Vancouver, Bomb squad members from across Canada will check Parking Meters for explosives daily in Metro Van, Already sewers are being weld shut....

This is not the Olympic's its one big security zone.....

Personally I'm okay with the level of security being undertaken. With wackjobs like Ahmadinejad making statements like he has recently, and all the actors we have no idea about until they pull the trigger, I'm not exactly sure that "you can't be too safe".

This security has spoiled the Olympics for the average person. If someone gave me tickets to an event, I wouldn't take them. To see a 3 hour event, will take over 10 hours to go and return. More like a Police State. Hopefully those insane Vancouverites staying in Vancouver while the games are on will have some good listening. Too much money being wasted on a sporting event for me. Hopefully someone will post some activity during the 2 weeks of the Olympics. Haven't really listened to closely in Alberta and probably won't during the Olympics. To busy working to pay for all this security. But will listen for more activity over Calgary whenever I have the time.

I'm not all that fired up by the Olympics but I do envy the monitors there. The military monitors are also going to have a great time with all the activity in the area.

I was in Calgary for the 1988 Winter Olympics as RCMP introduced their now aging PACS system. 500 Mhz radios were used there instead of the 700 in Vancouver. Calgary Police were still on UHF and added a bunch of new channels for the games. The snowbirds were there flying all over the place. It was truly a great monitoring expierience.

I also hope too that the BC monitors will keep us well informed of what they hear. It will be almost like being there:)

IGOR is actually a series of KC-135R tankers from 92 ARW USAF (Spokane, WA). Confirmed by RadarBox network via Ladysmith, BC monitoring station.

Havent you figured it out? it is the biggest farce ever perpertrated on humanity. There is no danger, very minimal at best. They play on peoples fears. Similar to the "Boogieman" we all thought was under our bed. It took me almost eight years to wake up and realize what a crock of crap we have been fed. If you doubt me then I suggest you click and watch. For the record I didnt belive what I saw at first, then I became consumed by it.... I have a masters degree and was an advance man for 43 with many, many conservative credentials. I have since tried to debunk every aspect of this film. It couldnt be right, could it? well guess what? I FRIGIN CANT. It has changed how I look at everything. It may or may not do the same to you, I invite you to make up your own mind.At least take the time to watch this and decide. Do it with an open mind, then try to debunk it. If you can let me know, cause I want to be wrong, but so far no such luck. it is one hour long. (truthfully I have vasilated posting this, but I have no doubts. Take the time and watch. Make up your own mind. If you can convince me otherwise then please do. The science has yet to lie.)

You can capture military craft squawking on the radar box by air nav? fighters, fuelers, transports, etc...etc...? Please do tell. Also does anyone know if AirNav has released Ship Nav yet? That looks great.

Is the above table taken from an Airnav Radar box? looks good.
