FARGO – The Salvation Army here let go longtime employee Steve Carbno as part of a local reorganization.

Carbno, a 13-year employee, held the position of business manager and emergency services director.

Capt. Bill Mealy said the decision to cut the full-time position Carbno held came from the Salvation Army’s divisional headquarters.

A team of volunteers led by Mealy will take over duties Carbno previously performed, Mealy said.

Mealy said the Fargo Salvation Army has been undergoing changes for the past four to five months to become more fiscally efficient. Its store at 4575 23rd Ave. S. recently closed, he said. "

Hope Village Names Coordinator
July 11, 2012
Steve Carbno, a lifelong resident of Fargo, ND, has been named Hope Village Coordinator. He take the reins from Joe and Ruth Galey, who have returned to Boise after spending three months getting Hope Village up and running.

Carbno has been involved in disaster response since 1974, when he and his wife experienced a fire in their apartment. After receiving assistance from the Salvation Army he felt the need to pay back the kindness that was given them.
