Interesting article. Looks like with all that equipment, Radio Nacional da Amazonica is here to stay a while... Interesting that they have a powerful MW transmitter aimed to cover Brazil at night on 980 khz.

Pretty cool. What would get Radio National Da Amazonia more interest is having an English language broadcast.

Brazil did indeed have an external service many years ago; I expect the cost of programming and hiring announcers is likely prohibitive.

This station is a de facto international service, but that's not their main purpose. They are used to beam programming into the Amazon and mountains where AM and FM would have a difficult time reaching reliably. Hence, no English, all you'll hear is Portuguese....Mike
