A stupid question on the "SDS" line of scanners.

What EXACTLY does the "SDS" stand for anyway? I'm guessing something like: S)canner D)igital S)ystems, but that is only a guess on my part. I'd really like to know what it REALLY means.

Yep Uniden knows it and that's why they called it a Software Defined Scanner when they introduced it.

Seriously aside from the known hardware issues, lack of current upgrades. The SDS line is one of the most advanced receiving platforms available. For all practical purposes its a plug and play item working on some of the most sophisticated communication systems on the air today.
