I have been programming the AARRS system in Bexar County. I am curious. There are several talk groups listed below the "Detective" section. Does anyone know what the following alpha tag abbreviations: 1) ROP; 2) COSA; and 3) ASET.

I am guessing that "ROP" refers to repeat offender program. I would appreciate some answers.

Thank you in advance.

Thank you so very much. I got one right, ROP. Just for giggles, I am going to drop this one because this is the first thought that came to mind when I saw ROP.

I haven't heard an RAU callout in years.

Those used to be pretty fun to listen to when they happened.

For those that don't know, they were little radio transmitters the tellers would put in the bags of cash when a bank was robbed. There were receivers on towers all over Bexar County that could alert SAPD that one was on the move, and select cars in every district and the helos had triangliation receivers that could help hunt down the location of the little transmitter. So, when one went off, SAPD would do an all call to the city to have all vehicles that were RAU equipped to switch that channel and they would go on the hunt for the robber. I think the whole system has been decommissioned because as I previously indicated I haven't heard an RAU callout in years.

It's called ETS in Dallas. Three VHF antennas in a triangular pattern on the roof gave the patrol cars away. There are still many equipped that way In DFW.

4 VHF antennas in a square is LoJack.

If I remember correctly, San Antonio banks and stores use a service called 3SI or something similar to that name, that employs GPS and cell signals to track and locate stolen cash tills and money bags. It's also not uncommon to hear officers or Deputies in the area tracking stolen cars and items with the live location feature in the Find my app by Apple.

I’ve heard this in several places lately. Also people scared calling in because they’re getting the notifications that someone’s Apple devices have been following them. It usually means they’ve been near someone and travelled some distance, which has happened to me a few times with a coworkers AirPods.
