• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I have got an srx2200 radio, but it has an label says “repaired”. I am worried about whether the repaired radio will have problems again. Can someone tell me when the radio will be sent back to the factory for repair, and if it is not repaired and passout , will it still be labeled for “repaired ?
Thanks!

This is normal for a properly repaired IS radio, the labeling has to indicate it was opened/repaired and properly resealed/pressure/leak tested. IS radios only hold their rating if the housing is intact and radio only serviced by an IS certified repair facility, with proper documentation of all servicing done, and the unit marked as "repaired" if the housing or chassis serviced/replaced.

There is no reason to believe that a radio that has been repaired is going to fail again, unless that particular type of radio has a known common type of failure which may be expected to be seen again.

Random component failures are a thing. They happen.

Thats mean if they just replace speaker or housing, radio still must be labeled "repaired"?

If the radio doesn't repaired, they won't label that radio is repaired right?

If the housing is breached in any way, per the IS standards, yes, it has to be marked, documented in the service history, and a full pressure test done to ensure the radio is truly sealed.

IS ratings are all about documentation, which is why a used one should never be used in an IDLH setting unless it's provenance and service history can be verified.

I asked my friend to verify this radio serial number to make sure it's repaired by the official, it is has recorded that it was repaired once at 2019, and have the “Last closed repair number”

Who's going to the trouble to forge the data plate to such a degree of accuracy as that?

NOBODY, that's who! Take it as proof of what it says it is, and get on with what remains of the rest of your life.

Don't obsess over what's not worth obsessing over.

I would absolutely obsess over it if it's being used in IDLH applications. Ever been in a courtroom as a defendant in a LODD suit?
If it's being used for ham/GMRS/scanner, who cares.
If one's life depends on it, it ABSOLUTELY matters.
