I realize this isn't the SDR forum, but I'm considering the Afedri SDR-Net.

Get the Afedri SDR-Net, it's an incredible value. With the great software available (SDR Console and HDSDR among others), it's a pretty awesome 0-30 Mhz rig. If you want knobs you can always add an antenna tuner for the attic wire.

Well. After I added in the price of the Alinco, plus a power supply, shipping fees and taxes, I'm way up over $600 and at this price my wallet really does become the deciding factor. So I decided to give dedicated SDRs a closer look and I think that's the way I'm going to go for now, and someday if I start to miss spinning dials and pushing buttons, I'll see what's available at that time.

Look at the fdm-s2 they are going for 525 usd. It's a better receiver and it rivals the q1sr at half the cost and it has more powerful spartan-6 fpga. More powerful than the fpga in the q1sr and the Perseus.

I just ordered one. Once I got used to exploring VHF/uhf using a ettus B200 sdr I was hooked, now I plan on moving my HF listening from my drake r8b to an fdm-s2.

Hopefully it gets here next week.
