No clue on who is broadcasting it, but I'd like to let that person know that their feed is very quiet incomparison to Rio Rancho or any other city for that matter, I have to nearly "blast" my speakers to hear it clearly, almost need to wear phones, please up the volume if you get this message, and thanks if so!

Yes why???

I wanted to know, to get the person my previous message (above this one and yours), about asking them to pump up the volume if possible, as its almost impossible to listen to with any other noise going on at all, had to plug it into my sterio system and really crank it (lol).

Props to the guy who is streaming it though, thanks for doing it in the first place!

Happy Holidays too.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the feedback.

First, the audio is going through a MaCom Radio and the output is very hot. Because of that, I must use an attenuation cable and it seems to over-attenuate some (ok, alot, it actually burned out two attenuation cables). I have the radio and PC line input at full volume.

Second, I recently upgraded to Windows 7. Since then, the audio appears to be even lower than before. To add to that, the new version of scanner cast keeps throwing errors and disconnecting, a problem I did not have on the earlier version.

I plan to mess around with the feed on my weekend, but I really don't have many options as the volume is already at full on the radio and the PC. I am going to do some testing again with the headphone jack, but if I remember correctly, that didn't really help before.

Thanks for your patience.

@drgensel -- Thanks for the informative reply! Good to know, I had kinda figured you probably were already aware of it, or had tried to fix the sound issue, but I wish you best of luck, and hopefully can figure out something and a solution won't keep toasting wires, cuz thats not good lol ;).

please reply again if you do make a change or want us to check it out/etc.

I plan to listen to the hilarity of DWI/drunks/etc on this new years eve, both abq + rio rancho, should be quiet entertaining.

Yeah, same remark. The feed went down on Christmas Eve and when it came back up it was extremely quiet - volumewise. It was a littel bit better today but still something happened in the last few days where the output volume has dropped really noticably..

Since we have you here I would like to thank you for putting up this feed in the first - way cool of you to do so. I used to work for APD and I still have friends out there patrolling the streets.

Regards,
Phil

Just an update.

Audio from the radio to the PC is still too hot without attenuation and the attenuation cable seems to be too much and the audio is then very low. If anyone else has any ideas, I am all ears. I have tinkered with the mic jack with no success, if anything, it was worse.

I am stringing money around for a new PC, but for now that is low priority so we may have to just deal with the low audio for a while.

Again, I appreciate everyone who listens to the feed and the feedback provided.

Kevin, here is my idea. I would add another attenuator cable, but in parallel to the one you already have. This means you would have to put a mono splitter on both ends, one at the radio to split it, and then the second at the computer to bring each cable together. This should divide the resistance your getting in half from the single cable your using now.

Right now, I am running a slightly different setup. It appears to sound better, just a little "tinny" from time to time. I will let this setup run for awhile, let me know if there are anymore issues by replying here.

Thank you.
