ABQALERTS - Text & Twitter Alerts

Just wanted to share a new service (still very much in beta) for the Albuquerque area.

Text ABQALERTS to 41411 or follow @abqalerts on Twitter for free text alerts of major Police/SWAT/Fire/Rescue dispatches (beyond what @abqpolice is doing) in/around the Albuquerque area.

In the coming weeks, I'll be looking for volunteers in the area interested in submitting tips/helping send alerts for major events they hear/see from the online feed or other scanners in the area.

What is the status of the ABQALERTS Twitter feed? What kind of activity should we expect?

I see the tweet messages from time to time, but I stopped getting them via text message. I don't think it is active as it should be, but since scanners don't work for ABQ, it makes the service more difficult.
