AC Adapter for PRO-97

If you have an old Sony cordless telephone you are no longer using, the AC adapter for the base unit will work just fine with your PRO-97! The pin size, and polarity are just right. (The PRO-97 manual says that the adapter should be rated for 300mw, and the Sony adapter is only rated for 210mw, but it's been working fine for me and is running cool, so I don't think it's overloaded.)

Using the Sony 210mA may work fine for the scanning portion of the scanner but where you might run into problems is with the built-in charger circuit if you are using rechargeable batteries. Using a lower mA adapter than what is required can cause longer charging times and possibly the batteries won't charge completely to their capacity. It could even shorten the charging life of the batteries and they may need to be replaced sooner. You just might be doing yourself a favor by spending the $13.99 for the right adapter.

AC Adapter

The specs in the manual says that squelched current draw is 90ma and battery charge current is 150ma. So, Yes, I don't think the Sony adapter would be good enough for battery charging during scanning. Thanks for for bringing that up!
