Well folks, we have gone from excited to challenged to frustrated to disappointed to down right mad. We cannot for the life of us get this software to import anything into this scanner. We have uninstalled it, reinstalled it with full administrative privileges, we have changed base freq & step in the set up fields (most likely wrong), have spent nearly 5 hours on RR, Butel, ScannerMaster websites & even tried prayer. The software just doesn't have that many options or choices. It connects you to the RR database. We chose the sites in our county, assigned each a bank, chose the talk groups & it downloads & populates the fields in the software. We hook up the cable, plug it into the scanner, & hey!... simple but no doubt stupid question which is not mentioned anywhere...do you turn the scanner on or leave it off when attempting to import? We choose the PSR300 scanner, usb/com4, check "turbo" load, hit "import" & watch the pretty blue line dance merrily across. Remove cable from scanner as directed after "import complete", turn on scanner to listen to all the wonderful public saftey traffic in our county only to find the display showing "all channels locked out." So as mentioned in someone else's thread we are listening to a "$300 paperweight." We have been Premium Subscribers to this site for 48 hours, thank you all for your kindness, we wish all of you well in the future. We will be calling ScannerMaster for an RA# unless something heavenly, holy, sacred or celestial takes place. If you fit any of these catagories, any suggestions are welcome.

Really, it's okay to call me any time. It may be as simple as a minor cable issue.

Thanks for the tip! I had wondered about that. Being new to the forum, I'm figuring things out as I go.

Just curious, when you manually step thru the channels/objects, do you see the freqs listed, or is everything blank/empty??

When that happened to me the frequencies showed up, but for some reason the program which at the time was ARC500 automatically locked out the channels. So I just unlocked them and it worked have no idea if thats whe is going on with 2alpha56.

AH, HA, HA, HA! :D Please excuse my belly laughing, 2alpha56, but your frustration has been felt by every single member here. When you get a chance read this post and you will see one of my frustrations. In fact, read this whole thread because it is mostly my frustrations with a new GRE. You have expressed what every one of us have experienced at one time or another.

Hang in there, guys. Help is apparently on the way and you can always come back here to get more help. We would all like to know how things turn out if you wouldn't mind posting again with the results of jjwhite29's help.

Woo hoo! jjwhite29 is the man! With his help, our problem has been resolved. The scanner works great & we did not have to indulge in too many adult beverages. LOL. Credit also to kf7yn. You were correct. It was a cable issue. ScannerMaster included a cable adapter along with the USB cable & of course, being good girls & boys we used everything in the box ! Needles to say, when jjwhite29 uploaded without the adapter, it imported just fine. We also picked his brain & got alot of our other questions answered. Again, many, many thanks to all for the attention & responses to our dilemma. It is nice to know there are people like you guys out there willing to help.

KUDOS TO jjwhite29

Yes, this is what we are all about. I'm glad you are up and running, 2alpha56. Enjoy your new toy and please, keep visiting us, make posts, ask questions, or even answer some for others. This is the way you learn.

By the way, kf7yn asked you in another thread about your "screen name." Does it have anything to do with State Parks & Recreation? Don't believe that you answered...at least not here in the forum. Maybe you answered him when you talked to him on the phone, but as bad as I hate to admit it, the rest of us (me) are curious, too.

About our "screen name"... I did reply, although being the forum neonate I am, might have simply done it incorrectly. So, to answer the burning question...we (my wife & I) were truly just trying to be clever. 2alpha56 deconstrtucted = "2" refers to the two of us. "alpha" refers to our alpha female jack russell terrier. "56" refers to the year we were born. Yep. A long time ago. Didn't ever think it might be someone's legit call sign & really, if it is a problem, let us know. So....maybe not so clever after all, eh?

Naw, it is just a coincidence. You don't need to worry. Actually, a lot of thought went into that. Pretty neat. And don't keep coming down on yourself. All of us started somewhere.

'56, huh? Heck, I was almost graduated from elementary school by then. You ain't near being old.
