Active Structure Fire In Regina at 1500 5th Avenue. The Shake Shop. This location is a commercial business for construction and wood.
Original call came in as a vehicle fire. Alarm was upgraded first time when multiple calls came in for a structure now on fire. 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B, 4L and 54 were initially dispatched for the Code Red 4.
Upon arrival, flames and smoke were showing. 2A went active upon arrival with other trucks catching hydrants and lines.
When 54 arrived, he called for additional truck to pump water from the hydrant to 2A. Alarm was again upgraded and 7A dispatched. 7A arrived on scene and went active.
2A was still inside the building when 54 ordered crews pull out because of imminent structure collapse. 2A evacuated building and units reformed. 4 Ladder went active establishing a stream onto the building.
At this time, 54 made the decision that another truck was required. 5 Platform was then dispatched and has just arrived on scene. They are currently setting up and preparing to go active.
Due to the fire, power has been lost to a fairly large area of central Regina. Fire Dispatch also lost power and is currently running on a back up generator. SaskPower has advised that they are shutting down the main trunk line for the area. With the power outage, multiple fire alarm monitoring calls are coming in.
A single pump is being dispatched to Code Red 2 monitoring alarms. Fire Dispatch is currently in the process of calling in on call fire crews to man the remaining spare pumps in the city. The department is currently running at 38%. 4 free pumps remain for the entire city.
As more comes available, this thread will be updated.
