Position is up in SE Alaska. The shrimp fishing vessel St Joseph has been caught in rough seas. Storm moved in and is likely generating high winds, seas, etc.

Heard that the crew was afraid vessel capsizing so it sounds like they've abandoned ship and the USCG Rescue 6044 (helo) is picking up the crew.

The USCG Cutter Long Island is en route from Anchorage but won't be there for several hours. Likely ETA is around 7am PDT.

Communications have been erratic due to weather and possibly condition.

Frequencies in use: 5696usb (primary) and 3122usb

As of 0930z, Rescue 6044 has just picked up all 5 crew.

Nick did you happen to record any of it ?

Nah it was over the course of like 2-3 hours that this took place and the communication was pretty much one-sided. A bunch of us on #wunclub were monitoring it from the west coast. I posted the note near the end of the mission. The helo was headed back to land as I typed it. They arrived about 45 min later.

You can read the details here:

or here:

PS. It's possible Solarix recorded some of this one. I'll wait for him to respond.
