I know this is a primary air-to-air frequency, but I have yet to hear any activity. Is this a fairly active freq? I have listened with a whip and sometimes a discone, all with scanners that have excellent VHF ears.

This is known as a Aircraft "Cb Channel". Pilots usually just chat about anything on this freq. It is not very active. Also, 122.75 is used for Formation flights and also chatting. :D

It's active on the east coast almost daily. Co advised pilots not to use this freq because all scanners with air freqs would have it programmed. They either dont listen or dont care. Still yaking. Discone is best for aircraft.

I live in California (Monterey Bay) and hear stuff on that frequency frequently....espeically during airshows. Seems to be used around here mostly for formation flights.
