So I'm curious as to who was in charge of fully encrypting ALL ada county SO/FD/EMS etc? Who's the actual one who made this decision? OK So you encrypt SO or PD but Fire? Freaking ridiculous. Way to ruin a hobby that some loved. Id love to know who to give a piece of my thoughts to.

Well its not a hobby to them and I doubt they will care. Seems easier to just encrypt all public safety vs just police channels. Also by encrypting the channels it also prevents it from being streamed.

The notices that I read did not say Fire/EMS would be encrypted, just Law Enforcement. I think All of the LE in the Boise area and on the ICAWIN System will be totally encrypted. The news media object most to it as they have to wait for official statements from the LE about incidents. The media does get inputs from citizens.

All of the Law Enforcement on the EICAWIN System in the Eastern part of the state has been fully encrypted for several years.

Since it is easy to implement encryption on the digital systems, we are going to see more and more of it.

Well, there were several different articles. Most giving info that was off or erroneous as per usual. But yes sone said ONLY LE. Not 100% sure that some fire or other stuff didn't get hit as well.

How do we have this issue brought up with our representatives at the capital? Who do we petition to have all dispatch channels in the clear and only critical channels secured? The equipment is paid for by us taxpayers we should be able to hear regular channels obviously not channels that need to be secure but fire, ems and police dispatch channels should be okay to listen to.

I had thought of that. We as taxpayers pay for this, so why are we being kept out? We pay all the salaries of the officials and all the equipment etc. So essentially we are being kept from something that is rightfully ours. NOTHING on fire needs to be encrypted! PD ok sure, any tac or Incident talk groups etc. Which were already here locally. So this "power move" by whomever was lame. So who's our contact to rightfully voice our concerns. We as citizens have the right to be in the know.

That's a lame excuse. As taxpayers and citizens of the county we have the right to speak to someone. As far as I'm concerned. Whatever officials are behind it don't deserve to be voted for again if they don't believe in or trust thier local community
