What's with the encryp key thing? There's no way it does brute force to obtain the key. Keys are designed not to be exposed from software. Even partial parts of the key.

To tell the radio which of its installed keys to use to decrypt that particular transmission.
Ahh okay cool. Will this software too let us know the length of the key? Meaning of its using DES 128 or AES 128/256???
It should only work for factory built in for DMR

Key ID number and key value must match exactly for proper decrypt on authorized radios. KID is sent OTA.
As far as the actual key goes, well, that is not sent OTA but all the information needed to decrypt is in the raw signal.
Pt XOR Ct = key stream= what secret key + MI generates that key stream = secret key.
Decent ciphers use an IV (MI) so the key stream isn't predictable. However, the key space must be large enough to resist a brute force attack. I'd say large enough today would be an 80 bit key , 112-128 bit key for long term protection and 256 bit for long term and protection against any currently known quantum algo.
Anyway, if you get this digital receiver please let me know how you like it.

Mine came in the mail today it was 2 weeks quicker than he said. setting it up now and learning the ins and outs.
I now have full intentions to order the VHF board and would love to see a board cover the 700Mhz band also. I still would like to know if I can run multiple boards on the same computer?

1. VHF is a one unit with the gap between 160 and 164 Mhz.
2. Yes. First run first software and connect first receiver. Then run second software and connect second receiver.
3. VHF is available for order.

VHF has gap a between 160 and 164 Mhz. Why? And is that ever going to be fixed? I need one for 160-162 Mhz Railroad band.
Read back thru this thread, I'm sure the reason for the gap is posted here somewhere. It's the only reason that I haven't purchased a board as well.

If not n this thread, there is a thread over on P25.ca about this board. Pretty sure it explaines why the gap on vhf.
The gap is due to the CPU he uses as stated in another forum.
