I've searched for the way to add the amateur radio icon to the area at the top of my posts. I can't find it in the "My CP" area where profile editing is done. Can someone please advise me how to do this. It must be in a location that is hard to find. It seems to me it should be in the edit user profile area where it is easy to find.

It isn't in User CP.
Click on your user name at the very top center of the page where it says:
username [Logout] · Mobile · Help
It will be on the Account tab right under your location and above where you change your password.

Add your Amateur Radio Callsign and the icon will appear automatically.
Note that once you add your call sign, your name and the address on your license will be linked to the icon automatically. There is no way to turn that off and just have the icon displayed, it's all or nothing.
