Have tried several times

I have tried to update several times including yesterday. I updated the firmware and database then attempted to create a scanlist manually inputting the frequencies and got the message that the radio does not support that range. I am currently at work, but if I take sceen shots when I get home can you tell me what I am doing wrong?

The radio doesn't receive 797-806. Those are inputs anyway, you don't need them. Just program the 769 and 770 freq's. Or just import the TRS from the library.

Let's clear up a few things.

First, to answer your question, the PSR-800 does not cover the range you're asking about. There is a gap between 797 MHz and 806 MHz on all GRE scanners because of issues with images from the mid-800 MHz band coming through, so they eliminated coverage of the upper 700 MHz band from their scanners. The frequency range listing in the Wiki is correct:

PSR-800 - The RadioReference Wiki

Now, the more important point is that you don't need to listen to those 799 and 800 MHz frequencies listed on their license, because those are the inputs/mobiles for the trunked system. The ones you need to be concerned with are the 769 and 770 MHz "FB2" frequencies, which are the repeaters for the trunked system.

Here is the system in the RR database, which is already in the PSR-800's database, so there is no need for you to manually enter anything:

Bell County Public Safety (Project 25) System Trunking System, Belton, Texas - Scanner Frequencies

Are you trying to manipulate the system you posted or those oddball 799 freqs? As stated earlier, the radio isn't meant to cover those odd ranges but will work fine for monitoring the system as is.

I have tried to update several times including yesterday. I updated the firmware and database then attempted to create a scanlist manually inputting the frequencies and got the message that the radio does not support that range. Based on the information that I have received, I will ensure that I have the correct freqs entered, i.e, these 799 and 800 freqs minus 30 MHz since I have been informed that these are repeater frequencies. Hopefully this will allow me to pick up the information that I want to. Thanks for the help to all.

You don't need to "enter" anything at all, that system is already in the PSR-800's database under Bell County.

If you're not seeing it, that's because there are no talkgroups defined yet, so it won't import with the rest of the county.

Here's what you need to do to get it to import:

- Go to Library Import in the EZ Scan software

- Choose Standard under Select Import Type

- Select Texas, then Counties/Cities, click Next

- Select Bell, then Systems, click Next

- Select the Bell County Public Safety (Project 25) System from the list, click Import Selected Channels

- Select the Scanlist you want to import the system to, then click Import Channels

- Go to the Trunked Radio Systems tab and verify that the system is there

- Click on the system to highlight it, then click on the Talkgroup Details tab on that page

- Click the Add Wildcard button, select the Scanlist you want it in, click Set

You can now scan the system and you will hear activity on all talkgroups.

I tried that and it didn't work because whether or not I picked a site, ezscan told me there was no site selected. So, I unplugged it and browsed the library and imported the sites there and then uploaded everything to ezscan. Then I followed your directions and this time they all imported.

Just wanted to say thanks because now I'm getting some things I tried to get before but couldn't because I didn't know this trick. Much appreciated!

Man thats great, thanks for the wildcard info, I thought there was no way to do this on it, I must have looked at the software 20 times and didnt see that button.

You can also have the software automatically import the wildcards upon importing a TRS. On the import screen, click "import options" under the scanlists. There you can set various defaults.

Oh sure, NOW you tell us! :p

Honestly, I don't even own the PSR-800, I just have all the software installed so I can see how my edits to the DB come across on various platforms. :D

Ha, I didn't see the other replies until now or I would have chimed in earlier.

Here is my question. Can you set the PSR-800 to search from lowest frequency to highest with out inputting any thing into the scanner?

If I was in NYS I'd donate you one, but I'm in Tennessee and have my PSR-800s connected to my dobro, slide & steel guitar.

We like our music but got a dusting of snow today and everything shut down and local government went into emergency mode. LOL Sometimes fact is stranger than fiction. East Tennessee was settled by some of the most hardy people on earth but now is occupied by girly men.
