I have a frequency that I'd like to monitor and sav to my Favorites. It is not in the database. Is there any way to add it in my BCD436HP? Thanks, Bob.

You can add it in the scanner menu, in Sentinel, or submit it to be added to the RadioReference database so everyone else in your area can benefit too.

What frequency, and where are you?

Hi. It's 482.050 for the Glendale PD at the Galleria Mall in Glendale, CA. I have not yet verified it. I got it from a list of frequencies for the Glendale PD. When I get my new scanner I'll verify it. Bob.

Please tell me how exactly can I add it in Sentinel. I can't seem to add it. Thanks, Bob.

If you need help verifying, I believe I found the license, Looks to be site 4 going by your report. Emissions appear to be P25 Phase I

I still cannot figure out how to add a frequency. I create a GMH Favorites List. I want to add 7 frequencies. See the attached jpg to see what I have created. I do not see any way to add te frequencies. Thanks, Bob.GMH.jpg

I tried that and all I get is Create New System.

I sent you an e-mail. Bob.
Then you didn't click on the Department, you still have the main Favorite List name highlighted in the tree view on the left.

You don't have a single TGID for a frequency. Any talkgroup on the system (and there can be thousands of talkgroups on larger systems) can be broadcast on any system frequency. That's the whole point of trunked systems--eliminating the need to have a separate frequency for every channel.

OK. Thanks. Why do all the other frequencies added from the Database all have TGID numbers? I added a frequency that is not in the Database and don't know what to do with it. Do I need a TGID. See the attachment. Bob.GPD TGID.jpg

They don't. You're looking at a list of talkgroups in a trunked system department, not frequencies. Any of those talkgroups can be broadcast on any system frequency. Look for system Sites to see actual frequencies. Hold off on trying to program anything until you understand the difference, or you're going to have errors and problems.

This article on trunked systems may be helpful:

You can just add it to favorite's manually. I admit, I have a tough time figuring out my 436.This is one reason why I prefer my 325p2. Don't go by me though. I had a tough time figuring out jello. LOL.

Thanks. It sure would help if there was a good manual. Even Mark's does not help much for a neophyte like me on the BCD436HP.

You aren't going to be able to understand the programming until you understand how the systems you're trying to monitor works. Learn how trunking works, and the manuals will start making a lot more sense.
