HP-1: Adding Michigan State Police Am I doing this correct?

More Newbie Questions:

I have an HP1 and have added MSP before, but ended up manually deleting most of the towers to prevent it from taking all day to to scan. I think I incorrectly added them to my Favorites.

Now that I have an SDS200 on the way, I have started to make favorite list for it.
I have 3 counties: SANILAC, LAPEER and ST. CLAIR.

I went down the STATE list until I found Michigan.
I then went down till I found SANILAC county, STATE WIDE. I went further down till I found SANILAC. and added this to my favorites
This gave me just SANILAC county in the state wide system.
Then Under SANILAC county STATE WIDE I found the MSP and added this.


Did I do this correct or do I need to add Something different?

What are you trying to listen to? The Staewide Trunking System is MPSCS, which the State Police, Sanilac County (Police) are using according to the database. To monitor the other counties, you might have to be in range of the site(s) from those counties, but since I don't live there, the Sanilac County MPSCS site "might" carry the other counties talkgroups you're trying to monitor. You might get better information from someone in the Michigan Forum.

Looks like Sanilac Co. is covered by Post 34. This is in District 3.

Very often, talkgroups 1158 and 1243 are patched together.

Talkgroup 1243 will have some traffic on it. Most local State Police calls are dispatched through your county's main dispatch.

Your local sites should have local State Police talkgroups affiliated to them.

Yes I am aware of the the two different districts (2&3).
I have found the Michigan group and will ask there.
