Early this afternoon, I caught site of an ADOT SUV which had a large (10"x10"?) HazMat diamond sticker in the rear window. He was coming off the southbound 303 onto the Grand Ave access road, and I was coming up to the light to get on the southbound 303, so I only saw the vehicle in passing. It was white in color, and had a rotatable spotlight on the roof. I did catch the letters ADOT on the left side under the cargo window, and it said something else with it, but I didn't catch the whole thing.
I know DPS has HazMat units, I've heard them ID as such on the metro channels, although I don't recall ever having seen one. I've never seen, nor heard on the scanner, an ADOT HazMat unit. Has anyone else?

Much like you I've heard the State (ADOT?) has a haz-mat unit, but I don't know anything about it. Maricopa County also has a haz-mat unit, I used to know the guy that ran it.

A few years ago I saw a plain (unmarked) white pick-up truck running lights and sirens on McDowell headed west between 19 Ave & I-17. I didn't know who he was but assumed he was undercover cop. A few minutes later I saw him stopped at an incident on McDowell at the freeway where there was an overturned gas tanker truck. Then I wondered if he was State or County haz-mat. But it was an open bed PU with no equipment that I could see. Maybe he was a chief/coordinator/resource person.

It makes sense that they (Arizona and the counties) would have HazMat specialists in their DOT's, as they'd be the go to people after the FD HazMat units have left the scene. I just never thought of it before. And I've never heard them on the radio, only the DPS HazMat units.
So now, I'm wondering on what frequencies/talkgroups ADOT's and MCDOT's HazMat units operate on?

I also wonder what frequencies/talkgroups MCDOT REACT uses. (REACT does talk to ADOT's ALERT on ALERT's talkgroups, but I still don't know what they use when not coordinating with ALERT.)

I listen to ADOT all the time on the YRCS, especially ALERT and Enforcement, but also the TOC TG's. I have all TG's from 1000-1035 and 1100-1135 programmed in, as well as a wildcard that I enable occassionally to catch others. (Related: has anyone ever heard TG 1101 or 1103 in use? I don't believe I have. I have caught 1100 twice, and 1108 once.)
I do have MCDOT's TG's, but I don't listen to them all that often. (And I have more from the SWFD 10 that aren't in the DB.)

Sorry, my dumb phone has a bad habit of double-posting here for some reason.
