Check the 'settings' (cog icon) for controls over the appearance

Thanks for the reply..... what I want to do is launch the map in non dim mode without having to use the cog icon.

Mine opens as you want it...I presume a cookie set after I changed the settings?

Thought I would post how I solved the problem. It wasn't my ad blocker but rather a setting in the Chrome browser. In Chrome, go to settings privacy and security then turn off Clear cookies and site data when you close all windows. This fixed my issue. I hope this helps others.

If you want to still have the anonymity with your browser, try using a separate browser. I use DuckDuckGo, which allows you to delete cookies a will.

At DuckDuckGo, no cookies are used by default. If you have changed any settings, then cookies are used to store those changes.
(so, maybe less of an at will thing)
