Whats up fellas. Since I didn't get any replies to my post in the Antenna forum I'll ask here.
Do any of you know or have ever used an 800MHz omni cell/trunking type antenna that is mainly used on cell towers, for monitoring trunked systems?
There is one I'm looking at that is tuned for 806-890 and I can get it at a decent price. I've never tried this type or know anyone who has. So if any of you guys have any advice/info it will be appreciated.

Shouldn't be a problem.

Just make sure the connector is N type. Newer antennas have DIN and an adaptor might be hard to come by.

It has an N connector, and is rated for 500 watts transmit. I would only be receiving though. But I just ordered a Wilson 15db 8 element 800mhz yagi. I'm going to put it in place of my 400mhz ham yagi thats on a rotator about 35 feet. So hopefully I'll be pleased with it.
All these antennas are advertised for cell use, but are tuned to the 800mhz band. This yagi also has an N connector and I'm already set up with LMR 400. All I have to is switch out antennas.
I don't see any reason why they wouldn't perform very well for 800mhz trunked systems.

I say as long as you have the right connectors for your scanner, you should be fine. Especially if monitoring local 800 trunking communications, no difference would be recognizable.

One good thing is that this antenna would also be closer to the 700 MHz trunking band too!
