• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Ahhhh Help!!!!!

Hello all,

I have been a scanner enthusiast for many years, but this is the first radio I have ever had that uses a trunking system. I have a UNIDEN BR330T Racing edition (not that i care about the racing part) I have the UNIDEN Bearcat programming software and all the thrills. I live in the Boston area and want to listen to the Mass state police. I have all the info from Radio Ref. and what not from the Mass state police section of the database, but have no idea how to apply it properly. I tried to Downlaod the file thru Radio Ref.and the program ARC300 (I got that thru some download along wth my Bearcat software) but that proved to mess me up more. I really need help understanding trunking systems and how they work, becasue i am clueless on how to set-up the sytems, groups, freq and control channels.

Thanks for anyone that gives a reply that can help.

Ron.

Create a System (in the Uniden software or the scanner). Select a site from the RR database listing. Each site has to be programmed into a separate system. PRogram in the red and (if there are any) blue channels for that site.

Decide how you want to set the scanner up - one county/department/area per system, or in groups within one system. I'd set up a group for each "thing" I wanted to listen to.

Put the talkgroup IDs you want into the groups you want - for instance, in the Barnstable group I'd put the IDs from 37264 to 38672. Etc., for other groups/agencies ...

The few TGIDs labeled "D" in the "Mode" column are digital, so you won't be able to hear them, so it doesn't make any sense to program them.

You might also want to read through the trunking wiki - http://wiki.radioreference.com/index.php/Motorola_Type_II and http://wiki.radioreference.com/index.php/Motorola_Type_II_SmartZone in particular.
