Does anyone know the Atlanta area Air Ambulance Freqs? I remember hearing that there were several VHF Freqs in use around Atlanta when they were not using the local fireground Freqs. Thanks, Rick.

Well I can't really speak for any dispatch frequencies or anything that would be strickly related to the specific company but you should be able to hear them talking to Atlanta Approach/Departure and such.

Clearance: 118.1
Approach North: 126.9
Approach South: 127.9
IFR Arrival North: 127.25
IFR Arrival South: 118.35
Departure North: 125.7
Departure South: 125.0

Listen for something with a Lifeguard callsign. Chances are good they will not be IFR but prior to them taking off of the Hospital or any place within the Class B they will have to call up Clearance and talk to one of the approaches.

Hi Rick....
http://www.radioreference.com/modules.php?name=RR&action=codes&code_id=919 has a meager listing of medevacs in Georgia.... I had to search to find the "company" freqs used by the medevacs in Kentucky.... most of these outfits will use a freq registered to the service as a dispatch and en route freq..... they frequently use the base freq of the hosptial to which they are en route as a local control for patient reports, etc.... you might also try the various medical freqs to see if you hear them (there is a distinct sound nmade by the inverters)then see if you can find the same voice on other freqs. They will talk to units on the ground on the local fire/ems fres...

A vast majority of the Air Ambulances use either Nextel or SouthernLinc. What you may want to monitor is the County/City fire department dispatch and/or fire ground channels as most of the Air Ambulance services have radio's programmed to talk to them on.

true, only a few counties use simplex systems. clayton uses simplex. i hear them talking about Air1 and Air 2 on Clayton PD, Clayton Sheriff ( Encryption Disabled ) and Clayton Fire/EMS.

my job uses Southern Linc. we just upgraded from simplex radios.

A few of the AA's have Motorola Spectra's on board all programmed up with the various TRS's, mostly fire channels. I have heard Air Rescue 1 on the Cobb County system in the past.
