First thing to go will probably be some of the air shows!!

Well, not the first thing. The last three months of the FY don't come until a majority of the air shows have already been completed.

Been training their butts off around here, here lately.

NAS New Orleans is running a op right now and it seems some participants just sent numerous sonic booms our way. Every LE agency in Jackson county is freaking out right now. LOL

The Blues have taken down their 2014 schedule as well. On their site the PDF schedule is still posted but the actual schedule button at the top of their page reveals only the 2013 schedule. My BA app on my iPhone also has the 2014 schedule removed. I'm afraid the Blues are gearing up for a standown. Love having a dictator in office and a non acting congress, NOT!!

Hmmm...that reminds of something

The privately run MILAVIA website has a air show listed for Keesler on Apr 27-28, Thunder on the Bay, as in Thunderbirds, but the recently released TBirds schedule has nothing listed for that date. As of right now anyway. Nothing on the KAFB website yet either.

In 2011 the Angels over the Bay show was the next to last weekend in March and show related news on the KAFB site started showing up around the first week of January.

I guess if something doesn't show up there pretty soon for 2013 then it's possible Keesler may be the first victim. :(

I wouldn't call Mr Donley a "dictator" - he is just doing his job.

Love that every thread has to have someone slip in and make a personal, unwarranted attack that has nothing to do with scanning...

It has everything to do with scanning!!! It means the less military out there the less to monitor. Weakening our defense by cutting needed to funds the military when there are other useless programs that could be eliminated all together is not what I'd call doing "his job".

I don't believe so.

Yeah. I agree, there are other useless programs.

Budget cuts weaken the nations defense, but not as bad as you think. Some field exercises in the military branches will not occur as often as they should. And brand new toys will be put on the back burner. R&D by all the branches will be cut back. Updated equipment will not come along as fast as it should.

When I served, there was always the "Emergency Funds". Fuel, equipement and other necessitys that are needed for deployment and or combat. One thing defense cuts do.....it decrease morale. Cuts in the military degrade morale....just as they do in the private sector.

The United States Air Force will still serve to have a high state of rediness, as with the Army, Marine Corp and the Navy. The Army and Marine Corp rapid deployable units will continue to remain at a high state of readiness, and required training...such as weapons qualifications, job qualifications will continue...as they have to.

The last thing any dictator...or rogue ruler wants....is the U.S Armys 82nd Airborne Division, or the 75th Ranger Regiment in their back yard. The 82nd and the 75th Rangers --> Two units at President Obamas disposal...that can deploy anywhere in the world, at a problem spot...on a moments notice.

Infantry, Medical, Military Police, Communications, Support and Supply, Mortar Crews, Intelligence personnel, Armor...and a host of other military specialitys within the United States Army; that can parachute into a trouble spot on orders of the President of the United States. All while U.S Air Force attack aircraft circle overhead like buzzards...providing aerial intelliegence informaiton, and air support if needed. I know, as I was in a forward deployable unit. I practiced desert warfare, I went to Europe to train with other units, I done numerous ninety day field exercises, and I learned quite a few jobs outside my "schooled" military speciality. Troops give alot. At times it is h@ll being a serviceperson. Servicemen and women give alot, They sweat, and they operate for hours...sometimes days to complete the mission. Budget cuts means keeping the SINGARS they have..instead of a new upgraded one, or the new upgrades for the M1 Abrams will not happen. Some comforts are lost, and some investments that save time will be lost.

Budget cuts happen, and in most instances are not as severe and damaging as they seem.......Due to the United States Military has to always have a high state of readiness to be able to deploy.

The one thing about the military demonstration teams though, they are a most fabulous, thoroughly enjoyed, thrilling, inspiring, wildly popular way to give back to the tax paying public that makes the whole shebang possible in the first place.

I think everyone has it wrong. If you want to get funds to provide for air shows, as the Presbo! At an estimated $4million per vacation to Hawaii (as per LIBERAL MSNBC Obama vacation costs prompt complaints), it is in black and white print. And that is just the Hawaii vacations. Remember Michelle's trip to Colorado to go skiing? A little over $83,000! Her trip to Africa with her kids? $424,000. Her trip to Spain? $467,000. Think about all that money that could be used for the PUBLIC to enjoy, not for the PUBLIC to watch go out of our taxes!

I'll get off my soap box.

Some of that money, I will agree is misuse. Some is allocated.

Salaries and other expenses are factored in. Salaries and expenses that are everyday occurances, even if they do not go anywhere.

Biased reporting by opposing individuals and media outlets.

How much could be saved if the two VC25's were put in the hanger for a while.

Last week, one of the VC25's, using call sign VENUS-02, was shooting practice approaches at Wright-Patterson AFB here in Dayton, Ohio. Guess they where just keeping current!

Over the years, I've seen/heard executive aircraft from Andrews come over here every month or so to shoot practices approaches.

Well...as far as air shows are concerned....The Air Force has cancelled the show at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia already and they weren't scheduled until May. "sequestration" they called it.
