I listen to the paramedics all the time while in route to the hospital getting orders for treatment and such. Very interesting to hear. I never hear REACH or MERCY AIR on the air doing the same. I do hear them getting ground contact information and talking to the medical units, but never in route to the hospital giving them updates on the victim. Are they using some other channels besides RCS. If so what? Maybe the old UHF med channels?

They use the standard RCS med channels, but typically, unless there is a major change in patient status, they don't update what the ground medical personnel have already reported to the base hospital. If they needed a doctors order for pushing additional meds, they may chime in with that request.

In my area (central California) they can also call their base hospitals on their cell phones. Saves fighting for a open channel.
