Have been monitoring a new talkgroup on AWINS, Thompson Peak site for the past few weeks. Not wildly active but it appears as though Air Methods/LifeNet may have been added to the system.

Talkgroup 485 has had several LifeNet helicopters call to "Air Comm" to report takeoff and landing times, souls and fuel on board.

Thus far, I've caught LIFENET 1, 2 and 10 reporting taking off or landing at Safford and Florence.

For those that keep track of radio IDs:
6188 appears to be "AIR COMM" dispatch
6158 - LIFENET 1
6159 - LIFENET 2
6182 - Unknown LIFENET
6184 - LIFENET 10

TG 485 became active on Mt Lemmon on Monday for me. Activity has been light. The locations of the flights were from or going to El Mirage, Mesa, and TMC here in Tucson. I had three of your five UID's.

Damn I had to look those up never heard of them. 🤯 I thought I had some nice piece of equipment lol this is child's play compared to that! I think I'll try to sell these vintage Ham radios and this old oscilloscope I don't know how to use and buy one of those like the one you have.

They are not hard to come by. However, they are not for someone who has very little to no experience with them. Not only do you have to get the radios, but you have to get the programing software. That can run you 300-800 unless you have connections. The radios alone can run 1200-3000 a pop. If you are just doing conventional, its not that hard to set up once you get used to programing them. Now monitoring trunking systems with a commercial radio is a whole different animal and has to be done correctly. There are many post on this forum alone that explains the process and the dangers if done wrong.

Air Methods/TriState CareFlight CARE FLIGHT 7 (N407TX) as RID 6185.

Provided a position report to AIRCOM that put them between Kofa and Growler about 8 miles north of I-8.

This explains the many hits Ive gotten for Lifenet and Native air lately.
