This weekend at Davis-Monthan AFB (Tucson AZ) the F-22 Raptor and many other military planes will be "practicing and qualifying" for thier air show certification. What frequencies do you suggest I listen to or try to hear? I lucked out this weekend to be here for this. I read that this is one of the first times the f-22 will be seen by civilians not working at Edwards or ????.

Get ready for the Heritage Flight Conference at DMAFB !!!

This years qualifications will include the F-22A!!!

According to the Desert Airman, the base newspaper, they will host eveything from "P-40 to P-47s to P-51s, up to and including the F-15E and F-22A this years." You've already see the F-4's. I drove on base and verified 4 F-16's from Shaw and 2 F-15's, tails of SJ, and one other F-15.

There where also be some pyrotechnics for the A-10's and F-15E's.

"Anyone on base is welcome to come out and see the old warbirds, as well as our newest fighter, the F-22A"

Just like previous years, they will have viewing area located in front of Base Ops. The flight schedule begins at 12:15pm on the 3rd and ends at 5pm on the 5th of March.

One special note from the Base Newspaper:

"Photos are allowed, however, there may be security requirements for the F-22A." If this is anything like they treat us when we try to photograph the F-117, we won't be able to photograph it on the ground. We'll have to see :)

I will be either attending on base or at the end of the runway in one of the pulloffs to try and obtain the prize picture of the F-22A with an "old warbird" :) Unfortunately for me, it will only be in the morning, as that four-letter word - WORK - will get in the way of my afternoon viewing and listening pleasure :)

Two F-22A's are here at DM. They are sitting at show center right. I managed to take a couple of pictures between the fence line, albeit not the greatest, but once the doors are open, they'll make great photos !!

So far the lineup at DM includes multiple F-15, F-16, F-4, P-51, A-10, and of course, the F-22A's.

I heard a short radio sheck on 123.15mhz by DMAFB Tower, so this should be a good frequency tomorrow.

At the time yesterday around 1245 L I saw what looked like 4 F-15's being "dragged" by a KC-10A that flew right over my house. I would estimate them being at FL200 or so but could definitely tell they were at least F-15's. Now with having a short time to view them it very well could have been 2 F-15's and 2 F-22's as reported by someone else who managed to catch them. I'm sure a Raptor can favor an Eagle from a distance. I never caught a callsign nor the tanker frequency but i did catch their air to air: 233.525 They were heading East to West. It sure was a sight. I am wondering if these a/c could be the ones that went to Davis-Monthan. Have fun scanning.

Well, I was working when the fun began, but did manage to catch some transmissions on 127.15mhz during my breaks....

Here is a photo of a 355th FW A-10 side by side with the F-22A's sitting in front of Base Ops at DMAFB

Did anyone catch 'em airborne??

F-22

I saw the F-22 in the air and I will say this. The F-16's, F-15's were doing full power take-offs and max climbs at 1245-1300. The Raptor BLEW thew all away! it did an amazing climb to 1600 feet in seconds and it appeared to hover for a few seconds before going nose down and flying away. After a couple of minutes, I heard Raptor one calling ALB Center and he was climbing past 10K. If you go monitor the 118.850 for DM Tower because they are using this as an air-to-air and calling manuevers on it. Of course they are going to discreet quite a bit, but I only heard quick 4-5 word comments and that was it.
