Aircraft Incident near Frederick

Just before Noon 1/18 heard AirEvac 34 out Wichita Falls Tx being dispatched to Frederick OK area for poss. A/C down.

Later heard AirEvac 34 advise thier dispatch that they had been cancelled by on scene due to non serious injuries and ground EMS would handle.

All of this on 159.900...anyone know where AirEvac Lifeteams dispatch center is located?

Their dispatch is in West Plains, Missouri. They have radio links set up to enable them to talk that distance.

Here is the info from AP on the crash:

FREDERICK, Okla. -- An Air Force training jet and a crop-duster collided Tuesday plane over southwestern Oklahoma, killing the crop duster pilot, authorities said.

The T-37 training jet from Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas, struck the crop duster over a rural area southeast of Frederick, Federal Aviation Administration spokesman John Clabes said. The wreckage fell into a field.

The pilot of the crop duster was killed in the crash, which was reported around 11:30 a.m., said Jimmie Goodin, a dispatcher for the Oklahoma Highway Patrol in Altus.

Another highway patrol dispatcher, Della Adler, said the two Air Force pilots who were aboard the trainer survived. They apparently ejected from their airplane and parachuted to safety, she said.

The collision happened at about 5,000 feet.

A spokesman at the Air Force base said he had no immediate information about the crash.

Sheppard Trunked System

I believe the Sheppard AFB folks learned a little something about their "state of the art" trunked radio system at the plane crash. I was assigned down there last Tuesday, and the Guards assigned to the roadblock had very nice brand new UHF hand held radios. When we asked them if they could contact the personnel inside the perimeter (The PIO was inside, away from the media) he looked sadly at his radio and proclaimed "These don't work out here."

Either they had no talkaround capabilities or the airmen had no idea how to work them. :roll:

Just heard on 5, the FAA has announced that the cropduster pilot was not at fault. He was following an approved flight plan. Shepherd AFB officials say they are still investigating.
