When I am listening to Cleveland Center and Washington Center ARTCC I can hear the Pilots give airspeeds and Heading and add certain phrases to their traffic. They use words that sound like "Drews" , "Boubie", "Lindie". Of course it may just sound like that to me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
LOL...DRUZZ is Area 4, the Blue Ridge Sector (15) at ZDC. When controllers are vectoring them for these fixes they are setting them up for the arrival into Potomac Approach (MANNE/BUFFR Sector). DRUZZ also has a published holding pattern. There is also a BUCKO6 Arrival.
Boubie? BUBBI is on the Westminster 4 Arrival EMI4. For BWI and satellites. Depending what type of aircraft (Prop/Jet) determines what altitude they cross at.
Lindie? We have a VORTAC named Linden (LDN) used for the JASEN4 arrival.
I'll check the approach plates next. Maybe one of the other arrivals into the Metros has something.
Below is a link to a "Virtual ATC Site".

I just happened to find it in a search. Prior to this post I didn't even know it exisited. I was looking in my IFR Supps and Approach plate charts for the info above.
If you have any other questions, fire away.
These fixes are made up a number of ways. The airspace office has someone that works are routes, arrivals, etc and if a five letter fix is available they just spell it differently. For Ex.
Doccs is named after a guy that works in Area 3 who's nickname is Doc (I think he made that fix up when he worked in Airspace). DRUZZ is the same guy except that is his first name (Drew). TEAKK was a controller in Area 4 that just retired. Here's a cool one: EYTEE is named after a guy who's Controller Initials were "IT" (either TEAKK or TTUMS). FINKS is the shortened last name of a guy in Area 3. KERRE is the son of DRUZZ (No lie!).
TTUMS (V128 and V377) is named after a guy who recently retired from Area 4 but spelled backwards because it may offend too many people (My personal favorite!). There's a story behind almost every fix.
There is a fix for I think it's either Luray airport (LUA) or (W45) Grant Co airport that is named after the 2 pilots because they died on final. Some are even named after the city it's located at. Further to the south there is alot named after the Civil War ie. RELEE (V140/V469) is named after Robert E. Lee and UNION (not really used any more) is for the Union Army located south east of Lewisburg (LWB). I think somewhere in the LDN area there's one named after one of the controllers dog's?!
