Ok i live in the middle of no-where and out in this field is a weird looking building. Kinda looks like a Sombrero. But anyway i drove back there and there was a warning sign that said....

"This is FAA Government property. Loss of life may occur by trespassing in or around this building...."

By that thime i was in reverse and OUT OF THERE. So i got home and turned on my scanner and was just scanning every possible frequency and i came across one that gets stronger as you get close to the building, but it doesnt say much. Its in a robotic voice and is says something like...

"...0...5...F...9... ... ... Repeater..."

thats it. but the numbers change and its totally at different random times. idk please help to tell me what this is. or what it possibly means. if u need a picture i can get one of the building. but if i dont come back u know the "police" have me. loil

What you are describing physically sounds like a VORTAC to me. Google VORTAC and you'll see what they do. Basically, it's a navigational aid for aircraft. if your scanner is capable of hearing 108-117.995 MHZ range in AM, then you'll hear the voice of the VOR and likely some CW indetifiers too.

It sounds like you found a VOR for aircraft navigation. Indeed you don't want to mess with it and should stay away so you don't get attention drawn to you, as in FBI/FAA/Cops, etc. As far as the voice part goes, that sounds like HAM repeater and you just happen to tune it in and get good reception around the VOR? The VOR frequency will be somewhere from 108 to 118Mhz in AM if you want to tune it in. Check in the other threads here and you will find several links to sites that can help you identify which VOR you are seeing and then what frequency to tune to. They don't have a lot to say, but sometimes you can hear weather information and such, otherwise it's mostly Morse Code of the ID or a automated voice of the ID and that's about it.
It's not RADAR but post the picture so we can all have a look.

145.27 is definately a HAM frequency.

eBay or at a hamfest fleamarket. Or better yet, contact your local amateur radio club to learn about licensing and perhaps one of the members would have a lead on used equipment.

VOR/DME (PSE)
and its picture number 6

this is the closest to what the one im talking about looks like. except the one by here isnt "fenced in". What is it for exactally?
Simply terms its a directional becon for aircraft.
Most likely has movement detection devices and you spend to much time there you will have guests

VHF Omni Ranging. An intersection in the sky, it should be on air charts. Check Airnav.com for your nearest airport and find the approach plate. It should be on there.

I'm just within range of the Armel (AML) VORTAC. It's mostly static but I can hear the morse ID. I don't know code but it's easy enough to tell that it's .- -- .-.. which is AML.

It's quite fun to go find the VOR's out in the middle of nowhere.

OK, we know it's a VOR or VORTAC etc. but does any one know what the little bar looking thigs are that are around the perimeter of the deck? They look like bar lights shining on the cone, but I know they are not lights. Anyone have any idea as to what they are? Also, I've seen larger ones but all look similar.

Thats a pretty stern warning = does the building conduct a lot of power or were they insinuating that you might be shot on sight?

The little bars are sense antennas. There is a rotating antenna inside the “bowling pin” and also a fixed antenna fed from a phase modulated source. I forget the exact workings but the aircraft receiver can tell which compass radial its on when approaching the site by measuring the phase relationship of the rotating antenna to the fixed antenna with modulated signal. The sense antennas provide internal feedback for the system. There should be someone out here with specific experience with these, I only had a tour of one a long time ago.
