Airdrie Emergency Services (169.740) Help?

As of last week I was unable to hear anything other than a horrible noise on 169.740. Which until recently came in clear as a bell. I tried my roommate’s scanner and he is having the same problem. Am I doing something wrong or what?

Well that's a heartbreaker, thanks for the heads up. I'm not really sure what "TRBO" means technically speaking, but I do understand it means I can no longer listen. I also understand that when the Airdrie RCMP go "TRBO" (it seems like a matter of time) it will effectively kill this little hobby of mine.

Is there no workaround like expensive equipment or anything?

RCMP P25 encrypted

RCMP will not be going TRBO, but P25 and probably encrypted. Read the thread Omrail posted for possible solution to hearing TRBO if not encrypted. Read AFRRCS - Alberta First Responders' Radio Communication System - INFO HERE, that is found at top of this section for information on RCMP/EMS/FIRE/SUSTAINABLE, etc..
