Akron OH system upgrade

Expansion of the Akron radio system will be performed this weekend.
This necessitates the use of the City’s analog radio system while
the upgrades are being performed.

From 0600 hours on Saturday June 4th, 2005
until approximately 2300 hours on Sunday June 5th, 2005
the following talk groups shall be used for
Fire and EMS communications:

Fire Dispatch City Emergency CTYEMG TG 944

EMS Dispatch City Common CTY CM TG 912

Fire ground Service Common SVC CM TG 976

FCC website show new / different assigned frequencies to Akron as of May 2005. Maybe this is the change.

Kev...know what the new freqs are? Could this be where Akron/Summit become one site? They talked about becoming one system last year and doing away with the two sites.

I was in Akron overnight. I heard APD, AFD, EMS, Summit County SO & all other users on the Akron site (855.2625 was the CC).

Dispatch is still using the Digital system while APD (TG 1840), AFD & EMS are all on the Analog system. Go figure.

It appears that the Summit County site (868.9125 Control Channel) is off the air. I don't know if they are merging the two cells together this weekend or not.

I also heard Valley Fire District testing on 32912 as well.

On Stark County's TRS I'm hearing a TG 16240. It is the SO, and they are talking quite a bit. Anybody know what it is?

I was told by a good source when I was in Akron a few weeks ago that APD, AFD, and the Sherriff's Dept. all dispatch from the same communications center. I was told that the Sherriff's Dept. moved there so they could use the CAD system. I remember when I was living in Akron, seeing the new communications center when it was just about completed. They system was in the testing phase at that time.

Last I knew, the Sheriffs Office was dispatching from the District 11 Office in Northfield Center (the old fire station/township hall)

Summit County Sheriff Dispatch is in the same room as Akron Fire/Police. Has been for about a year.

Looks like it may be some new talkgroups as well. I was hearing some "testing" messages around 2000 hrs on Sunday on a talkgroup that began 49xxx. I don't remember the number.

I'll set ID Tracker to monitor overnight. No audio. Idiot (me) forgot to have a mike before I sold off my old PC.

It appears that not only are sites 1 and 2 of the Akron/Summit System being combined, but the old Akron Analog TRS is also going into the system (KW's earlier post about frequencies from the Akron Analog System going into the Akron/Summit System). It will be a mega mixed analog/digital system, 3600 baud. City and County.

As of now, 2130 hrs, Summit County Sheriff and analog county TG's are coming in on the Akron site. Some 59XXX analog County transmissions, as well. Akron Fire dispatches are going out on the digital system, but fire mobiles and all police traffic are still on the analog system only. No CC on what was Site 2 (County).

Looks like some new TG's and freqs to be looking for in the next few days.

I'm watching the Akron system with Trunker right now on 855.2625. All I've heard/seen lately have been Summit County SO stuff and it's only been on 866.0375 & 866.2875. no other frequencies are in use as of right now. Since they (Akron PS, FD, & EMS) are supposed to return to the Digital system at 11pm, we'll have to see what turns up, then

I had tried Kevin's new freq list (additions). They are causing problems. With both list in, I'm getting two control channels. One is 855.2625 (part of Akron Digital). I'm also getting one on 855.3125. This is part of the Akron Analog system.

I think Scott is right. Something is weird with those combined list. I agree that both have the same callsign in the FCC database. They may be trying to merge the two. I thought about that Friday night.

For now, I'll leave ID Tracker running and check it in the morning.

As of right now the frequencies that were on 2 seperate 'sites' for Akron and Summit County are not one 'big' site.

I've been hearing Analog talk on the 49*** channels. Mostly on 49360.

It appears that the techs are still fiddling around with things.
