Tuscaloosa Post: TX 155.505 TXCG 114.8 RX 159.21 RXCG None (effective 03/05/2012)

Hamilton Post: TX 154.92 TXCG 114.8 RX 155.445 RXCG None (effective 03/12/2012)

Quad*Cities Post: TX 155.505 TXCG 107.2 RX 159.21 RXCG None (effective 03/14/2013)

The only change in frequency will be the Tuscaloosa Post. The other two will receive different tones.

I'm sure there are or will be other changes. The ones listed are the only ones of which I know for sure.

Programming the "splinter" frequencies that DPS has licensed for years (and never used) might not be a bad idea either.

Can't believe DPS is finally "expanded" the use of PL's. A certain place must have frozen over.

I haven't heard if they will be used, just a possibility. Mobile units throughout the state are receiving program updates this month to insure narrowband compatibility.

Evidently any changes to post dispatch frequencies will be made at the same time. We should be able to collectively put together the complete state plan by the end of April considering all the changes go smoothly for DPS.

On a side note, did y’all catch the news about another of my former employers? TVA Police uniformed patrol will be no more after April 30, 2012. Those in the Shoals area need to have 169.675 plugged in to see what this will mean for communications.

Sounds like some fun figuring out the new DPS updates. Have to redo my toys again, I guess.

RJD, that change may cause some strange things to occur. Guess TVA thinks they can "video patrol" their sites.

Just heard AST Jacksonville Post dispatcher requesting unit to be enroute to location for radio reprogramming...

I'll have to be sure to start listening and watching to see if I see anything change around here with the freqs. & tones etc.

Montgomery Post

I noticed over the weekend that Montgomery Post (154.920) had a DCS tone of 118.8 and the units (155.445) had a DCS tone of 162.2.

DPS Hamilton

Mobile units in the Hamilton area were reprogrammed yesterday, March 14, 2012.

Hamilton Post is down to one Communications Officer. Consequently you will hear Quad*Cities over the Hamilton transmitter for communications most of the time.

RJD, that is as bad as here. Somedays Opelika is controlled by Alex City from the AC "post". Then other days Opelika controls AC from Opelika. DPS has gone even stranger than when we where there.

Here in Gadsden I'm hearing Jacksonville Post on 158.79, 154.92 and 155.505. Birmingham Post is on 154.92 and 158.79. I hear Decatur Post on 158.79. Not seeing a tone on any base stations. Jacksonville cars are using a tone of 141.3. The one Birmingham car I've heard showed 151.4.

Ken (KMoats), are Jacksonville cars still on 159.030 and the Birmingham car on 155.445?
I "believe" I heard Opelika Post on 158.790 and Alex City on 155.505 today (having some antenna malfunctions at present).

Yes, the mobile freqs are the same. Jacksonville 159.03 and Birmingham 155.445. Sorry. The odd thing was multiple frequencies for the base stations
