FYI folks. Maybe you in North Ala already set your scanners with this. But if not, PL tones are used by the Decautr Post.

Alabama State Troopers - Decatur Post Only:

PL 100.0 for 158.790 Decatur Post to Car
Car to Car does not use PL

PL 179.9 for 159.030 Decatur Car to Post

The rest of Alabama posts do not use PL tones.

Picked this up today and yesterday during my travels using
my 996.

I hope the rest of the posts go that way. I can pick up Tuscaloosa, Selma and Alex City from my house - it would be nice to be able to filter them out by PL tone!

Don't get your hopes up. Unless something has changed, radio techs wouldn't talk tones unless it was absolutely necessary, reason given "cost".
Decatur Post has 2 towers for use. Before I left tone 100.0 was used to separate tower access, attempting to cut interference between the 2 towers. The tone on the mobiles is new (at least to me). Maybe the techs deciding to use tones on the cars for the same reason( it would be a first). Also maybe some new techs have been hired and they are patching/bandaidding the system to keep it running. Enough rants from an old "retired" PCO.
