I'm not knocking your source, but I programmed in the frequencies in conventional mode several weeks ago, and I haven't heard anything on them, not even a control channel. Plus, I couldn't find a pending or active license for any 700MHz system in Montgomery County.

From what i've heard, the GRE scanner that does Phase II will only do Phase II X2. It won't do true Phase II.

I am afraid that were are not going to be able to hear only a few talkgroups on the system till a Phase II scanner comes out. I was told that a link from Huntsville to Mobile already has been made. There is a group net that meets monthly on the system. It is encrypted and Phase II. The current p25 scanners are quite someone transmits in Phase II so nothing will be heard.

That would be heard on the PSR-800 now. Beta firmware for P25 PII released today and working fine so far on MSWIN :D.

Yeah, this topic is about the eventual statewide system, of which the ARCS(1D0) will no doubt become a part of some day, but as it is right now, and the foreseeable future, there is one, and only one, ARCS system. 1D0

Documents pertaining to the STATE (46B) system are linked above. With nothing better to go on right now I suggest 46B, and this thread title, should be named Alabama First Responder Network, from the Executive Order #34 linked above Until something more official comes along.

Also another potentially key piece to this puzzle is due out this month, so anyone who can, keep your eyes peeled for it's release
Alabama Department of Homeland Security
Alabama's Statewide Communications Interoperability Plan Version 2.0 is currently slated to be released in January 2013. This updated version will address Alabama's continuing efforts in addressing interoperable communications. Once version 2.0 has been signed by all appropriate parties, it will be published here on our website.

New TG

All,

At 11:00pm this evening I picked up TG 31039, possible Med Flight Dispatch. They were talking about a patient being sent/picked up at Lincoln Med Center. I heard both dispatch and helo.

I'm in Elmore County, monitoring the Clanton and Montgomery site on a PSR-800.

Keith,

That sounds like it alright. Lincoln Medical Center is in Fayetteville, TN (Lincoln Co.) just north of Huntsville. Someone must have been down there listening to that talkgroup for it to have been active on those towers. Maybe someone was at a conference in Montgomery or something?

I was able to see a coverage map of the Alabama First Responder Network, Two new sites were listed on the map. University of Alabama and Conecuh County. Conecuh County Rural Fire will be switching in Conecuh County. Not sure who in Tuscaloosa will be switching yet. Sorry I could not get a photo of the map.

I was able to hear the audio link from Baldwin County to Tuscaloosa today. They were testing on a Baldwin County VHF fire channel .

Do you know who was talking on the Baldwin County side? Dispatcher or what department? That sounds odd.

I dont recall the unit number it was someone talking to Baldwin Centeral on the old loxley Police Frequency 156.165. It was during the day. I'm sure it was a patch of some type. I doubt it is on all of the time. When they patch up a frequency you never know who you may hear on the other end.

156.165 is Silverhill / Summerdale / Elberta PD. It is bridged over to the 700 system to their talkgroup on there, as not everyone has 700 radios yet. What "Tuscaloosa Fire" traffic did you hear?

Kingpin you should be able to pull the audio tape. It was a one unit saying "I an in BayMinette, no correct that I am in Tuscaloosa." The signal was not that strong so I didnt hear everything that was said on the repeater. It was more of a testing than an actual call. I know I wont be able to hear it for long. I'm sure the talk group will soon go encrypted once the system is running 24 hours a day.
