Try monitoring 123.025 MHz. Although not unique to news media, this is the helicopter air-to-air frequency and is used heavily.

In addition to 123.0250 AM Helo Air 2 Air Pilot Chat you might limit search between 450 to 460 FM .

Also, lQQk to your local LTR TRS networks. Here in SATX we at one time had 4 news stations using LTR TRS's.

Finally, it would not hurt to pull up outside your TV station and go into Signal Stalker mode for VHF/UHF & 800.

Happy Hunting :)

Haven't listened in years but in the 80's and 90's, these were in use:
450.0875
450.150
450.1625
450.250
450.4125
450.500
450.650
450.700
Probably most or all gone to cell phones or Nextel.

ok all media in birmingham

abc3340 southern linc
fox6 cell phones
ch 13 southern linc
cbs 42 nextel or southern linc

all helicoptors for the birmingham media are now rented as on a on need basis from rotor wing
airlink when 3340 had it had a southern linc radio in the bird. i would assume that the 2 birds they rent now might have them still in it if not i know for a fact that the photog have radios.

the fox 6 repeater of 450.650 was hit by lighting and to my knowledge has not been replaced
