Can anyone tell me the type of Motorola system in use for Albany, N.Y.?

Also the fleet map in use for that system?

Thank you! :D

At least pretend to do some research before asking the same old questions. And, by the way, even if you're going to do your research by just popping into forums and asking around, at least follow the posted directions and put your question into the correct category. There is a whole forum for New York stuff.

This website also has a database that you can search, even if you had never heard of a search engine before.

(For anyone else who might care to follow this thread, NO, I'm not going to give him the URL to my website where the answers to his questions can be found. Let him learn how to look stuff up on the Internet on his own.)

Hmmm....
Wow Dave, did someone stick you with sharp stick or something?

To: docsco
Welcome to the RR site. :D

I am assuming that, since you are new, you were unfamiliar with the database. Based on your question, I guess the system you are after is the Albany City System. If you click on that link it will take you to the system here in the DB.

Dave is correct, in that specific questions like this should be sent to specific forums, like NY. But since you are a brand new member, some slack is always given.

In any case, I am moving this to the New York Forum for further comments if they are needed.

Isn't the purpose of any forum to further the understanding of the topic at hand?

Is asking about frequencies for a city in New York, in the New York forum inappropriate?

Isn't this considered doing research? Asking those more knowledgeable than yourself for the information?

If questions like docsco's are "suppose to be" directed to and answered by search engines, and not asked of the group, what's the point of the forum? Only so knowledgeable people can exchange ideas?

Your comments surprise me Dave. Especially since you've spent so much time compiling information such as docsco is looking for.

A point of information is this didn't start here in the NY forum. I moved it here, see above.

However the rest of your comments are certainly on the mark, especially considering he was brand new and it was his first post.

I too sometimes dont know where to post and I've been here 2-3 months now but dont give up on the site. There is alot of useful information here.
Perhaps he put it into his favorites and when he had a question he clicked on favorites and the page poped up and he posted.
I did that in the Software section.Sorry everyone.
I would have never known and still would have been posting there if dubbin didnt say something like is there a software question in all of this?
I too am from Albany and new to the boards.
Do yourself a favor and try this page first it might help you better understand how the forums work.

I still post in the wrong forum if you dont get a reply in an hour you might go back and edit moved by author then try posting it somewhere more fitting.
If you do your homework and stumble across daves page you'll be real happy.
This place should have it But you have to look for it

One also remember that the Albany system has been on of the most screwed up systems on RR.com. It has been listed as smartzone, digital type 1, 2 and now 2i

Dave's web site has a wealth of information on it. I've referenced it many times myself. It's about the best I've seen for this area AND it's updated regularly. Put this link in your favorites as I'm sure you'll want to go back to it again and again, as I do.
