Yes I think maybe schodack. But in the federal band? Plus they cover from castlton to eastgreenbush and renns to sand lake? And they don't talk like normal patrol cops, they talk very informaly.

The frequencies of 166.250 and 170.150 have always been available to non-federal public safety agencies. Back in the day of FCC frequency allocations, they could be used by fire departments within 150 miles of New York City. They can also be used by television and radio stations for things like remote links or two-way radio operations.

Before Watervliet Fire moved to UHF, they used 166.250 as their channel. 170.150 is in use by the North Adams (MA) Fire Department.

I67.9800 I don't think is a bleed over. Its load and clear p25.

As for 167.9750 I've seen listed as DHS-CBP, DOE, and FEMA. Problem is I don't get NACs on my radio.

When I was in the Albany Area over the summer, 167.9750 was Lima-Charlie P25 w/o an antenna North/West of the Airport.
Which is very near Knolls Atomic Lab [DOE]

it had occured to me that 167.9750 was buzzing alot when there was a spill at knolls last year and the signal coming from that area no doubt.

166.2250 i have never had a hit up there on that freq.

I think i was wrong and dave was right. the transmitions on 166.2250 i get here i think are bleeding from 166.2125. sounds like a P25 buzz but its not. there is a cts tone my radio shows. Maybe along encryption? Or data? Doesn anyone know? you can get the VA cops in the clear one p25 so scratch that idea.

non-Fed new channel

154.815 MHz, CTCSS 173.8 Hz

This frequency is licensed to the City of Rensselaer and to Saratoga County. The adjacent "splinter" channels are not licensed in New York, so I'm sure it is on-frequency traffic.

I heard unit-to-unit comms for a short time the other day. The conversation gave no indication of location.

Hunting season is on those in southern albany county and Northern greene county search the "marine" channels i knew 156.690 was a good catch years ago....

Rensselaer County Sheriff's used 154.815 as a car to car but the last I knew they used 167.9 Hz. for a CTCSS tone. They may have changed tones to avoid some type of interference.

When I used to do work on Saratoga County's radios, they were not using 154.815 although they were licensed for it. But that was also before the 800 system went in, too.

While searching around today I found this one...

156.0975 MHz. CTCSS 146.2

It was simplex car to car and units were using speech inversion scrambling. I thought it might have been Bethlehem PD but during the unidentified transmissions the 156.090 Bethlehem PD repeater came up and stepped on them. Several times.

Monitored on a PRO-97 at my house in Latham with a rubber duck antenna. Signals were weak.

The only NYS license I could find was Cortland County Sheriff's.

I wasn't sure if Bethlehem PD used this as a 'secure' channel, or if this is something new.

TSA is using p25 in albany.

TSA Albany Airport have Motorola portables, and the last time I saw some of their agents were using something that looked like an Icom or possibly a Vertex. They referred to them as their "whisper" radios. Seems like those radios are unencrypted P25, while the supervisors (or the people with the Motorola's) are encrypted. I have monitored both encrypted and unencrypted P25 on 172.900 at the airport.
