Most of BC is Vhf analog, unless you are around Victoria. In the Frasier valle/ vancouver police and ambulance are Provice and not monitorable with ANY scanner. In Alberta Edmonton uses EDACS, Calagary uses Smart Zone, all police in Calagary are Digital and will need a digital scanner. RCMP are still Vhf analog for a few more years, but will be going P25, so if you want to listen you will need digital, assuming they are not encrypted(likely) for the little bit extra go digital
