During the chase char/meck had last night, at one point several ALE cars took over the pursuit. I scanned the SHP 800 TG for a minute, but did not hear anything and I went back to 8688.

Does anybody know the ALE unit ID's?

Charlotte-area ALE units on the NCHP channels will use I-Ds in the format NH-xx ... with xx representing a two-digit unit number.

I believe the second letter in "NH" can vary, according to the area of the state, although the "N" is always a part of the ALE radio I-Ds.

According to the ALE website, there are nine districts in the state.

Interestingly, when I accessed the NC Crime Control and Public Safety website, each page I connected to triggered a Coldfusion_Path_Disclosure attack warning by my Norton firewall protection. ???

Jeff,

You must have the settings too tight, I clicked through without any problems. My Norton is 2005.

Thanks Jeff, I figured you'd have it in your notes :)

I found it amusing that they were taking control of a pursuit. It was almost like the dukes of hazzard

The CMPD pursuit policy is pretty rigid, in terms of initiating / continuing a pursuit, vs. the risk factors to bystanders and the officers.

It may be that ALE was able to take the lead, just because that agency's pursuit policy is less-rigid.

It may also be that ALE and / or a DUI task force unit was the first to initiate a stop on the vehicle. They may have had a checkpoint or liquor establishment stateout going on, and the motorist was a patron.

Frank - I may have settings a bit on the strong side here. Between Norton, what AOL provides, the Linksys firewall settings, and anything RoadRunner throws in for firewall protection, maybe I'm lucky any data packets make it to / from the cable loop at the street.

I was suprised the CMPD supervisor let it go as long as he did. From the sounds of it, the CMPD units were the only ones around for awhile. I didn't even hear any talk of the ALE agents until they were on I-77. That was at least 15 minutes into the pursuit.

Anyway, It was fun to listen to :D

ALE unit numbers

ALE unit numbers are N then the District (troop) then a 2 digit numerical identifier. EG, in Troop H it would be NH32 for example. But that is only if you are monitoring the state (SHP) talkgroups or lo band. If they are on CMPD channels, then they are ABC52 or ABC31 (which translates to NH52 or NH31).
