I have had an Alinco DJ-S11 2m handheld for 25 years or more. It is an awesome little radio that I use often when walking around hamfests or other events with friends, or when railfanning to monitor the local switching operations. It is tiny, receives remarkably well and the batteries seem to last forever. The antenna is a little flip up job that rotates from a nifty cutout on the side.
I bought it at a hamfest that I was at with a bunch of friends when I realized I forgot to bring my HT, it was the cheapest 2M radio available there.
I had it for at least 10 years before I tried to figure something out and downloaded the instruction sheet to figure that issue out. I had lost or tossed the paper instructions years ago, guys like me don't need them until we do. It was then I discovered for the first time that the antenna was actually telescoping. For a decade I had used it with the antenna at 3 inches instead of 9.
Another instance that proved that I am not the super radio god that everyone knew I wasn't.
