Hi all, first post :)
Wasn't sure where to post this since it's a wideband unit.

My question is, really what's it good for?

It and other handheld widebands are intriguing, but what can you pickup with it especially in VHF/UHF and above, other than ham, RR, Air?

How's SW performance?

Thanks for your opinions :)

Here is a pretty good review. Alinco DJ-X11 Review I have one and use it for analog PD/FD/EMS/FRS/GMRS/AIR/RAIL. SW performance is what you would expect for a HH unit. DX is nil. Strong HF amateurs, broadcast and utes can be heard. The dual receive is really nice. Cons are that replacement battery prices are ridiculous.

Here's a comparison video of the DJ-X11T versus a competing receiver, the Icom IC-R20. I owned an R20 years ago, was a great radio. The R20 seems to have cleaner audio on HF/SW with less hiss than the Alinco. Nicer, larger & easier to read display too

It's certainly an interesting concept, these wideband radios. I do travel by Amtrak, I enjoy marine communications HF and VHF.
I have given up on police/fire/EMS for various reasons.
My wife loves listen to NOAA
Me, I could fall asleep listen to WWV :)
So I may pick one up for the fun of it, at least for travel use :)

Thanks for the responses.
